Kaş combines a compact harbour town with clear Mediterranean water, ancient Antiphellos and easy access to the wider Lycian Coast. It works especially well for independent travellers who prefer a relaxed base rather than a resort-centred holiday.
What makes Kaş worth visiting
Start with the centre itself. The harbour, Uzun Çarşı, the Lycian sarcophagus and the ancient theatre are all close enough to explore on foot. In the evening, the streets around the old town become one of the most atmospheric parts of the visit.
The coastline is equally important. Küçük Çakıl and Büyük Çakıl are close to town, while Limanağzı, İnceboğaz and Akçagerme offer different ways to spend time by the sea.

Kaş is also one of the best bases for exploring ancient Lycia. Kekova and Simena lie to the east; Patara, Xanthos and Letoon are natural day trips to the west.
For walkers, sections of the Lycian Way add a different perspective on the landscape. For divers, the waters around Kaş are among the best-known diving areas on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast.
Planning your visit
Give Kaş at least a few unhurried days if you want to combine the town, swimming and one or two day trips. In summer, plan archaeological sites and longer walks for the cooler parts of the day.
