Kekova and Simena
Kekova is one of the most distinctive landscapes on the Lycian coast: clear water, rocky islands, small villages and archaeological remains that meet the sea. Boat trips from Kaş or Üçağız pass the submerged remains commonly known as the Sunken City before continuing towards Simena, today’s Kaleköy.
Simena is reached most naturally by boat or on foot. Above the village, a small ancient theatre and Lycian tombs overlook the water, while sarcophagi stand almost casually among houses and paths.
The area is best approached slowly. Rather than treating the Sunken City as a single photo stop, allow time for swimming coves, Üçağız, Kaleköy and the wider maritime landscape.
