Best Day Trips from Kaş

Kekova and SimenaMyra, Demre and AndriakePatara, Xanthos and LetoonKalkan and KaputaşSaklıkent and TlosFethiye and the western coast

Kaş is a strong base for exploring both the eastern and western parts of the Lycian Coast. The best day trip depends on whether you want archaeology, swimming, mountain scenery or a combination of them.

Kekova and Simena

For a sea-focused day, head east towards Kekova and Simena. Boat and kayak routes reveal coves, coastal settlements and submerged remains, while Simena adds a small historic village and hilltop castle to the day.

Myra, Demre and Andriake

Myra and Demre are a natural choice for archaeology and later Christian history. Myra’s rock-cut tombs and theatre can be combined with the Church of St Nicholas and the ancient harbour area of Andriake.

Patara, Xanthos and Letoon

West of Kaş, Patara, Xanthos and Letoon form the strongest historical cluster. Patara also gives you the option of ending the archaeological part of the day by the beach.

Kalkan and Kaputaş

For a lighter outing, combine Kalkan with Kaputaş Beach. This works well when you want coastal scenery, swimming and an evening meal without building the whole day around ruins.

Saklıkent and Tlos

The upper Xanthos valley offers a different landscape. Saklıkent brings a dramatic gorge environment, while Tlos adds a Lycian city set against mountain scenery.

Fethiye and the western coast

Fethiye is farther away and deserves an early start. It makes more sense when you have a specific reason to go—such as Kayaköy, Ölüdeniz or the western end of a longer road trip—rather than as a rushed add-on.
