Road Trips from Kaş

West: Kalkan, Patara, Xanthos and LetoonEast: Demre, Myra and KekovaInland: Tlos and the upper valleyDriving considerations

The roads around Kaş connect Mediterranean bays with archaeological sites, mountain villages and the valleys of ancient Lycia. The most rewarding drives focus on one direction rather than trying to cross the whole region in a day.

West: Kalkan, Patara, Xanthos and Letoon

Follow the coastal road towards Kalkan, then continue into the Xanthos valley. Patara, Xanthos and Letoon can be combined in different ways depending on whether you want more beach time or more archaeology.

East: Demre, Myra and Kekova

The eastern route leads towards Myra and Demre and the Kekova area. It combines coastal driving with some of the region’s strongest historical sites and can be adapted into either a road-based archaeological day or a boat-focused outing.

Inland: Tlos and the upper valley

Turning inland changes the character of the journey. Tlos, mountain views and the upper Xanthos valley provide a useful contrast to the coast and can be paired with Saklıkent when conditions suit.

Driving considerations

Roads can be winding and summer traffic can add time. Avoid measuring a day only by kilometres: parking, heat and archaeological visits all slow the pace. Start early for longer routes and avoid stacking distant stops simply because they fit on a map.
